High West Trail

The fourth wave of pandemic has hit Hong Kong, and all gyms are closed as of today, Dec 10, 2020. I wanted to get some fitness in, and the gym closure is not going to deter me. Hence, Yoko and I decided to hit the High West Trail.
The weather was not super amazing. It was gloomy, cloudy, a bit warm, and very hazy. You could tell from the pictures everything was grey and hazy. I am not sure where the haziness came from, but it has been like this for a week. The air pollution was not great either.
This trail started with all stairs/steps from Kennedy Town up to the Morning Trail/Pinewood Battery Heritage Trail. There are interesting rock carvings along the trail. The Pinewood Battery Heritage trail is connected to the High West through Hatton Road. It took us less than 2 hours to get to High West Peak, and we did it at slow pace without stopping. Along the hike, I highly recommend people to check out the battery. These are the monuments from WWII, and they are pretty well maintained with a plaque on each monument. We then went to the Peak Galleria, and exited from there to Sai Ying Pun to enjoy our late lunch. Total time is 3 to 3.5 hours.
If you want something close to the city, and a quick hike, this is definitely the trail you can try.
